We’re writing to share several important updates about our training programs as we prepare to launch new and improved learning paths. These changes are designed to align with the updated 4-Point V4 Handbook and provide a more consistent, effective, and engaging training experience for all SMART Recovery volunteers.

Registrations Closed for Current 4-Point Facilitator Training

We are no longer accepting new registrations for the current SMART Recovery 4-Point Meeting Facilitator Training. A fully revised course—reflecting the latest best practices and aligned with the V4 Handbook—will launch on May 27, 2025.

Meeting Host Training Retired

The Meeting Host Training is permanently retired. The new Facilitator training is streamlined and covers all essential content previously included in Host training, as well as a new module on Facilitation Skills, eliminating the need for a separate Host path. The new 4-Point training will take between 5-10 hours to complete.

Options for Current Learners

Anyone currently enrolled in the Facilitator or Host training will be given a choice:

• Complete the course on the current LMS, or

• Start fresh on the new platform when it launches on May 27.

Please note: Switching platforms will require beginning the training from the start. However, we strongly encourage current learners to transition, as the new course reflects our latest materials and is fully aligned with the 4-Point V4 Handbook.

Special Introductory Pricing

To support a smooth transition and encourage broad participation, we’re offering the new training at an introductory rate of $49.00 USD through June 2025. This discounted price reflects our commitment to making high-quality facilitator training widely accessible.

Complimentary Access for Current Facilitators

All currently registered facilitators in the U.S. and Canada will receive a free access code for the new training. These codes will be distributed by June 1, 2025, at the latest.

Family & Friends Training

The Family & Friends standalone training will remain on the current LMS until the new Family & Friends learning path launches—expected in early July 2025.

Professional Training

The Professional Training will also remain on the Moodle LMS through July 2025.
